unraveling

A film collaboration between Kate Ladenheim and Cecilia Lynn-Jacobs, Unraveling began as a response to a messy breakup but became a response to the pressure women face to sequester themselves when they have strong feelings to process. This short film recasts our messiness as the scaffolding to our repair.

GLASS

Glass is a 5-part film series, installation, and dance performance work about glass ceilings and what happens to women underneath one. The work features hoop skirts, white pantsuits, meticulous patterns, power poses, a few too many step touches, and a fight for a seat at the table — all alluding to the fight for status, confidence, and attention that women engage in their careers and personal lives.

Competitiveness or cattiness play out, too. The women in Glass confront the highly stereotyped, patriarchal views in their environment, each other, and themselves, walking the fine line between standing in solidarity and perpetuating the very misogyny they stand against.

I Don't Believe in US

#Idontbelieveinus, choreographed by Kate Ladenheim, is the newest single and music video from indie-darlings Overcoats – a Brooklyn-based duo that mixes traditional folk, soul, and gospel with forward-thinking electronic production. Their debut album YOUNG is built on the themes of family, love, and concepts of womanhood.

What to expect: pink flowers, colored smoke, quirky dance moves, fantasy, surrealism and disillusionment.
